I don't have access to my facility here. Obviously. But I might not have to worry about that, depending on what you want.

What do you want, anyway? "Bizarre contraption" being a given.

I'm looking for a pair of shoes that can provide enough leg support and impact tolerance to withstand certain strong, abrupt forces. Launches, impacts, things like that.

I have the beginnings of a design, but this isn't my area of technical expertise, so I'm open to suggestions of what might be feasible.

There aren't many places I haven't been. But the last place I called home was San Francisco.

Assuming you mean the Black Mesa that touches parts of Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Colorado — it's a landform with the highest point in Colorado. There's a state park and a nature preserve, if I'm recalling correctly.

Right. There's a corporation named after it. They created a fuel system icing inhibitor.

Probably not.

Long Fall Boots are exactly what the name says they are. They're designed to prevent impact injuries from long falls - the longest drop I've seen someone take with them was four kilometers. They hit the ground at terminal velocity and were perfectly fine.

They can also withstand being launched with great force, since you mentioned that. They're used with Aerial Faith Plates all the time.

I wasn't aware someone else had already beaten me to my own personal innovation. But I'm hardly going to complain, if it makes it that much easier to get my hands on a pair.

How difficult would it be to make them here?

You said you could provide materials. I'm also going to need somewhere to work, as I would really prefer not having people asking me what I'm doing. And I don't think that they would approve of me throwing my test subjects off the roof.

But it's possible. Assuming you don't need them by tomorrow or anything ridiculous like that.

What are your specifications on the workspace? I presume you'll send me a shopping list for the materials.

I'm used to the workspace not being ideal. I was absent from the laboratory for a while back home. Twice.

Let's say that things went...badly. Both times.

And I managed to work with that.

So don't worry about it being adequate, exactly. Just worry about it being somewhere that people won't care if someone flies off the roof once in a while.

So a secluded retreat in the mountains would suffice? I can provide that.

Because I may want to make a few modifications.

Given the experiences I had with the place, I'd frankly welcome renovations that rendered it completely unrecognizable.
